dating in the city
read an article on gothamist.com (a great site, btw) that mentioned a new book out called "the sexual organization of the city." it writes about the social and dating scene in chicago, but can apply to any city. it says: "In such a huge city... singles tend to move in very small circles and go to the same places - severely limiting their dating options." it also says there are two types of neighborhoods, "transactional" and "relational," for short-term and long-term relationships, respectively. this is not new news. but it mentions that you'd have better luck dating outside of a city like new york. hmmm, this is definitely a book i want to check out.

well seeing i haven't actually tried out the dating scene in nyc, and haven't really had the opportunity to, it seems that now it would be a great time to do so. for the next two weeks i'm going to try out new things in the city, try to meet as many random people as i can, and perhaps test out the internet dating scene (that's perhaps). if i fail, oh well! i'll probably end up freaking out a lot of people but hey, that's what experimenting is for right?
