philip johnson
philip johnson died on tuesday at the age of 98. he was a man i consider synonymous with the architecture of new york city skyscrapers and was best known for his work on the at&t building (which to my delight when started working was in full view of my office). i remember in all my architecture classes he was mentioned in almost any reference to modernism and almost every building with glass went back to his glass house. was there not any piece of architecture that he didn't put an opinion to?

also, what was up with those kooky owlish glasses? we will never know.
